Brake roar and ABS light 850 97

When I step on my brakes at medium to high speeds I get a kind of a roar and a pulsating from the brakes. I don't think it is the front brakes because I'm not getting any feedback through the steering wheel. Twice in the past week the ABS lite stayed on after I started the car. If I turn the ignition off and on again the light usually goes out. Has anyone experienced this before any suggestions.
