Sorry to hear that S80 2005

I'm in New Mexico where the evaporation is pretty bad as well. I opened the trunk the other day and the smell of gas wafted out of the trunk in a pretty strong way. At 114k mine (2005 S 80 Five cyl) went through a death cycle where all that stuff had to be replaced. The timing marks didn't match the ones on the plastic cover and the one I expected to find on the crankshaft sprocket was not there at all so I used a Sharpie marker to make my own marks before taking the belt off. You can take the belt off without removing the drive belt pulley from the crankshaft as shown in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK_zH8g8Fow ) but you'll have to unscrew the little plastic cover behind that pulley and finagle the belt in.

As for that gas stink, I'm having some bad gas gauge inaccuracy so I'll have to replace the sending unit. It has its own door on the top, driver's side of the gas tank behind the seat and while there, I'll screw the lid back on with a new o-ring. ipd is having a sale on them. Maybe the fuel line has dried out at the clamp point. I hope the smell goes away but if not, I'll have to check the lid to the fuel pump access. The smell goes away and comes back. There's no pattern except if the tank is full.

Being in Phoenix , is your a/c satisfactory? Mine's a little weak. When this car works, its a great road machine but sometimes it has an appetite for parts
