Re: Noise after cold start.. 850 1996

I went through this whole thing for about a year with a local volvo dealer who could find nothing wrong. Everyday I would hear that annoying sound. I went through belts, tensioners and an array of other things. But in the end, it turned out to be the oil pump. It was a pricier fix, but it was worth it to have a quiet start up, a luxury I almost forgot. I am glad to provide my $.02 because I know how frustrating this all can be. The engine compartment is very tight and figuring out these things in 5 minutes is a large hassel. But an oil pump replacement fixed mine and another 850 turbo wagon in town.
