A/C Compressor Question 850 1994

I was wondering if this is normal. When my A/C clutch pulls in and I'm sitting idle (at a traffic light, stop sign, etc...) the car vibrates some (can be felt more in the steering wheel) and makes a low frequency tud noise. The tud noise is loud enough to mask the sound of the clicks I remember the compressor making from last summer. (Normal sounding clicks, I think). Any thoughts? Thanks is advance for the help...
