cd player problems V70-XC70 1998

I have an SC-816 single disk cd player in my v70. Seems while playing some of the higher numbered tracks the cd player skips or mistracks.

The cd's are clean and play well on my home system and the skips happen at different points, but always on the higher numbered songs, usually the last song on the cd.

Does anybody have a solution or the same problem? This is going to be a hard one to explain to the service department.
