How hard is it? S70 1998

Klaus,
In my need for free time (10 yr. old) while my car was getting inspected yesterday the mechanic called to tell me that my front rotors had a huge lip near the outside edge. My complaint to him was that my front brakes have been squealing fro some time whenever I come to a slow stop.
He greased all the moving parts, replaced with new rotors and re-installed the old brake pads that still had a lot of life left.
As I drove the car away, the front brakes are still squealing like a pig.
I will be taking the car back to him on Monday but what if anything is my underlying problem here?
Should I have replaced the pads too?
