Regular Unleaded Gasoline 850 1997

Hi,

I have a 1997 Volvo 850 T5. Is it bad to run regular unleaded gasoline? 87 octane I think it is? I asked for Super, but the gas attendent put regular. I hate when that happens. I was in a hurry so I didn't say anything. It was only $20 worth. I don't hear any pings or anything. But, it does feel a little sluggish.

I know the manual says to use 91 octane which is basically Super (Supreme) Unleaded. I've ran Plus in it before without issue, but it seemed to burn through the gas faster.

Just wondering.

Thanks.
