Hello Ian,

This is my second 850 and each failed bulb began the same way. Burnt bulb indicator would flash on and off until the bulb actually always failed. Then the burnt bulb light stayed lit solidly when attempting to use the bulb that failed. I have not had many bulbs fail but, I noticed the burnt bulb indicator reacted this way each time. ie a gradual and then complete bulb failure. Sorry, you did not mention that you had replaced the bulb and the same thing happened. But, it seems the third brake light replacement procedure would not have changed much.
