Vibration from the front end V70-XC70 2000

Haven't posted here since I had my RWD which I gave my daughter back in 2006! - now with my FWD V70 I am having problems with vibration in the front end - shaking, actually - that is set off by acceleration, especially up a grade. It is intermittent, but can be counted on to happen, especially above about 35 mph. I am annoyed because my wife just spent $260 at Sears on the hunch that it was an alignment problem. Needed a new outer tie rod and they did the alignment and it seems somewhat better but the problem persists. Any suggestions? Thanks!
