Clanging sound from left side underbody S80 2007

I hear an intermittent clanging sound from underneath the left side of my Volvo. Sometimes it is silent and then sometimes it is rather loud. It occurs when the engine is running, and both when the car is stopped and when it is moving. It's especially bad when the car has not been running for several hours and I start it up. When I look underneath, it seems like there is a bent sheet metal part protecting the exhaust pipe that may be somehow loose and clanging against the exhaust pipe. I include a picture below. I am not sure what this area is supposed to look like. Does it look like there may be something damaged?

Otherwise the car is running fine
