I replaced my front struts....but? V70-XC70

Hi, I replaced the front struts on my 2000 V70 XC awd with all new parts, (IPD) but the bump stops, (forgot to order them, but the old ones weren't that bad). I also didn't have the tool for that 4 eared nut.
I put everything back in exactly how it came our, but when I bounce the car the strut top still bounces up and down slightly, (you can see with the hood open.
Is this normal? I would expect the top of the strut to stay put and it only bounce on it's telescoping ability. Is this just the bearing/bushing mount flexing? (I didn't use the HD mounts 'cause the rest of the car may only last another year or so, which is fine by me)
Thanks for the help
Chris
