Trac Off/ABS light on intermitttently, 1998 S70 NA 5 speed S70

The Trac off and ABS light come on and go out intermittently. Before I send the ABS module off to Vic, is there anything else that I can look for that may cause this condition. The cv axles need replaced due to torn boots and there is grease spewed about, can that have an effect on the sensors or other ABS related parts underneath?

My 2000 S70 went into limp mode when the module failed. I hadnt experienced that with the 98, does that have to do with it being 5 speed verses automatic?
