Replaced Hood - some questions V70-XC70 1999

Hello All,

Recently my daughter crashed my 1999 XC. Luckily she was not injured. I purchased a 2000 XC as a "donor car" to replace the front nose on my '99 XC. Some questions:

1) The replacement hood just past the grill has two round holes, where on my 850 wagons there are two round rubber plugs that screw in. These plugs are adjustable by turning them. You adjust them to keep the hood from rattling. My replacement hood doesn't have these rubber plugs, but it does have the two holes. Is a '99 XC equipped with these two rubber plugs or does it come without them?

2) On the hood just after the front grill, there is a a rubber weatherstrip that runs the length of the hood (from fender to fender). This weather stripping that is made of rubber, has "lip". When you install this weather strip. does the "lip" face the bumper or does it face the firewall in the engine compartment? Auto body shop installed this weather strip with the "lip" facing the firewall, but I think it should be facing the front bumper.

Thanks to all who respond.

Hugh
