Pintle washers on ends of Bosch injectors

The washers at the tip become broken very easily when removing rail from the manifold. Are the tips absolutely necessary? I heard for dissipating heat
Am having head reconditioned (valve re-seats / head straightening) and the expense is high (I don't even spend this much on my teeth! ) New injectors would mean a trip to the bank with hat in hand, maybe worse.
Of course, I've got new seals because all I can get are the seals. No washers. Duh.
