2004 V40 Quirks? S40-V40

Sadly, it is time to move on from my 91 Bertone Coupe. Suspension bushings in the rear are groaning, the transmission is clunking and late shifting. So - My partner who drives this car asked about a Volvo Station wagon. We like the styling of the V40, and are going to test drive one with 97k on it. Dealership is asking $7K. First - is this a reliable Volvo? I know I won't be able to work on this car the way I can the 780. We like the turbo 4cyl. Is there anything that we ought to be looking for? besides the obvious, of course. Thanks in advance.
