Does anyone know what will trigger the ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED message? V70-XC70 2004

Thanks a lot Volvo! A general catch all message from any of the computers which may not show up on generic scanners.

A search had problems popping up everywhere including a MAF, throttle position switch, O2 sensors, air leaks into intake manifold, you name it. And no codes! It could even be the CCM or DIM at fault.

A really good scanner that shows Volvo codes 'might' point you in the right direction. I would have a Volvo shop scan the car, print all of the errors, and attempt to reset the codes. I would not have them start throwing parts at it unless they were willing to put the old part back on and credit your bill when the message comes back - that will never happen :>)
