Inner Circlip preventing axle from going in transmission. V70-XC70 2007

I can't get the half axle to go all the way back in the trans. When I took the circlip off, it does go in. Now the circlip is stretched and there is no way the axle will go in all the way with it back on. Do I leave it off, get a new clip from the dealer or buy a new/rebuilt axle?
