Key and Remote Cost V70-XC70 1999

Good Afternoon,

DD lost both a key and remote last summer and has been driving around with a key and remote and a key that sometimes works. Before she loses any of those, I thought I'd check on the replacement cost at my local, hesitate to call them, dealership:

Key: $75.05 + $35 software + (1/2 hr labor @ $55) = $165.05

Remote: $163.08 + $55 software + (1/2 hr labor @ $55 = $273.08

Add in State and Local sales tax and you're up around $460 - more than the car is worth.

Are there any cars today where this nonsense doesn't go on?
