Rear wiper problem 850 96

Hi all,

I just bought my first Volvo, a -96 850 estate. Not having owned an estate previously I forgot to check the rear wiper and have now discovered that it is does not work. The primary culprit is the plastic cover that goes through the window itself. This had cracked letting water and dirt in which caused the shaft to bind. This in turn led to that the splines in the part of the mechanism (small metal part with the ball-part of a ball joint) that connects to the wiper motor has been completely worn down. In short: motor works fine but mechanism slips although I have re-lubed the shaft going through the window.

I was thinking about the possibility to glue the parts together with epoxy. It might be enough to get it working. Anyone have any experiences doing this type of job or have any other suggestions? Any input appreciated.

TIA

Johan
