Doc,

If you haven't already tried to remove the switch, here is a hint.

Use the flat end of an orange stick and pry the switch from the bottom under the edge of the rocker cap. Not only is there NO possibility of damage, but prying from the bottom releases the switch enough to let you pull it out the rest of the way.
