Running rough when in gear S70 1998

My boyfriend has a '98 base model S70 with the NA 2.4L engine that has been running rough recently. I'm fairly certain the PCV system and many of the vacuum hoses are due to be replaced, but the idle/power is actually pretty steady.

The roughness seems to be more of harsh vibrations throughout the cabin when he car is put into gear. Stationary with foot on the pedal and in "Drive" is when it is most obvious. The roughness/vibration is less noticeable at higher speeds.

This led me to think something may be wrong with the transmission, so I checked the fluid and the levels/color looked okay. It also shifts fine as well.

Any ideas what this could be? Bad engine mount? Engine timing? Transmission problem?

Thanks in advance!
