ABS/ Skid Control System Service required' What does this entail ? S80 2005

In the little message window to the far left of the dashboard, this ominous message has appeared: "ABS / Skid control system service required". The last time a had to deal with the ABS was in a 2000 V 70. I took the unit out and sent it to someone who fixes them in his garage. He said it had a cracked circuit board. Where is the skid control system in this car? Is it inside the ABS computer? I must avoid the dealership because they will go to town on this one. When the ABS skid control kicks in, there's a slight rumbling in the brake pedal. That rumbling is now happening slightly and briefly when I take off on bare dry pavement. No error codes present except for low fuel pressure which means the fuel filter is clogging up.
