Excessive fuel pump priming?? 850 1994

If the engine starts normally - not letting the pump prime, but turning the key from pos 0 to pos III - then it is not terrible.

It is possible that the backflow preventer is not closing completely and you are loosing some of the fuel in the fuel line. Or, that the pump is no longer as strong as it once was.
