Thermostat failure S70 1998

Thermostat shot and won't heat up Base S70 non turbo. Restricted airflow to radiator. Now operates a normal temperature with clean fuel burn. To cold to fix myself right now. Will this do any kind of harm to the car??? I monitor the temp and would like to wait till warmer weather to replace. Thanks all.....
