Bad derivative V70-XC70 2011

The AWD has 3 components: the transfer case, the Haldex box, and the differential. The differential is normally bullet proof, this is what connects the two rear axles and allows independent rotation of the rear wheels. The Haldex system does require an oil change periodically but seldom makes any noise. The transfer case can cause problems, but most of the newer cars, yours included, are reasonably well built.

I also suggest pleading with the service manager and regional Volvo rep to check it again and help with the fix.
