Review of the OMP Strut Tower Brace 850

I just finished putting on the OMP Strut Tower Brace. It went on in about 1.5 hours. The common problem of installation occured. If I didn't have to grind off a little of the bolts, I would've been done in half an hour.

A word of advice, don't be afraid to push the mounting plate over the bolts. It looks like the bolts won't go into the holes, but they will. Just put your hands over the plate, and lean on it a little.

As for performance, you feel it less in hard cornering then you do in the way the suspension now absorbs bumps, and in the strengthened rigidity in the body. But then again, I didn't really get a chance to test the handling much.

Since I have done no other suspension mods on my 855T, I can't really comment on how the STB works with other suspension upgrades. But I can tell you this, the bumps are WAY more absorbed by the suspension, and not your car, and in turn, your butt.

When I get some time tomorrow, I'll take the car to an empty parking lot and carve some turns out.

BTW, Charles Linden, how is one to torque the the bolt on the passenger side that is covered by the spanning arm? Am I supposed to remove the arm, torque the bolt, and reinstall the arm? I basically did it by feel checking the other bolts for tightness and doing my best to tighten the this bolt to the same tightness.

A great upgrade for about $130US + shipping and handling + taxes.
