glove box Cd changer installation 850 97

I've got a 97 850 wagon which I want to install a factory CD changer in the glove box. The instructions state that the glove box can be removed by unscrewing the torx screws holding it in place. I was unable to slide it out as it was still held in place by the glove box door and hinge. I tried to unscrew the inside panel of the glove box door to see if the whole unit slides out to no avail. The picture in the instructions show the glove box slides out with no slot for the door hinge on either side but in my car the hinge goes through a slot on either side. Any ideas? Thanks.
