Fuse for cigarette lighter keeps burning out - Got it fixed! 850 1996

Hello All,

Recently I posted a query asking about how to fix the cigarette lighter that kept blowing a fuse (10 amp). I received excellent advice from all of you. Because it was the original socket, I replaced it with a Volvo unit, which wasn’t too expensive, and I save money by installing it myself. The new socket still kept blowing fuses, so I brought it to my private garage. My mechanic spent the time and isolated the short. A wire that ran from the socket into the dashboard had become chaffed and would randomly short out based upon vibration. So there you have it. It did take some time to isolate it, but now the problem is fixed.
