You are OK with that head. The USA doesn't have that particular version.

When I put my 1998 awd up, I started by carefully jacking the rear using the differential, very careful to be on center(!), placed the jackstands on the rear subframe, and then did the front of the car. The "R" is about 3 inches lower than the XC70, so it was difficult to get the hydraulic jack under the diff.

First just jack up one side and slide under and visually check the forward CV, the propshaft for scratches, and the center bearing bushing for play. Along with the bracket for the tranny, just in case.

I know what you mean by antifreeze not evaporating. You might want to lift the rubber mat and insulation, shove a bunch of newspaper in there and let the paper absorb some of the antifreeze. It is a mess under there...
