URGENT!! FOG LIGHT SWITCH QUESTION!!! S70 1998

I installed a set of PIAA 1100 series driving lights almost a year ago (love em by the way) and have been using the switch that came with the kit. Recently I decided I wanted the interior to look a bit more original so I went out and bought a factory front foglight switch. Since the pink and black wires are for the bulb dimmer I assumed the green and brown wires were for the actual accessory the switch controlled. Given that I spliced the power wires for the foglights' relay into those two wires. PLugged the switch in and the bulb lit up fine, flipped the switch and POP! All my instruments went dark. Checked the fuse and found the headlight switch fuse popped (number 8 i think 15A) Changed it and everything worked fine again. Problem is now I don't have any way to turn on my nice bright driving lights since I had to take the old switch apart to figure out which wire was which in there. Is it possible that I just hooked the wires up to the factory switch wrong? (eg. red to green, white to brown instead of red to brown, white to green) causing a short? or is there some internal workings in the cars lighting system that only allows that switch to operate the factory installed relay/foglights? Thanks for your help. P.S. I've noticed in my Chilton's that some models have a wiring harness under the front bumper already set to work with the factory switch and aftermarket lamps. Does the 98 S70 have this and if so where is it. The only wires I've found so far are for the thermometer. Thanks all.
