The 215’s are 215mm wide.....the 205’s are 10mm less wide. that first number is how wide the tire is in mm. The second number is the aspect ratio...or the hight of the sidewall in % of the width of the tire. So a 205/40 as a side all that is 40% of 205mm...thats 82mm.

I am running Michelin Pilot XGT in 205/55/ZR16’s....my sidewalls are 55% of the tires width...that is 112.75mm. I like to stay with in 3% of the stock size.
