Engine replacement 99 V70 XC V70-XC70

Looks like my new-used black beauty wagon needs a new engine. I can get one from erievovo for around $1800 with shipping.

Spouse is a Subaru mechanic, has put engines into every kind of rig starting with VW and Ford as a teenager. Has put several engines into Subarus.

Can anyone say if dropping the engine out of this Volvo is particularly complicated? He's never done a Volvo engine.

If he can get the engine mounted up, then we can take it to a shop for dialing it in. I know Volvo used to be famous for needing special tools that only Volvo shops have onsite....
