Comptability of blower motors

Do you know for sure it's the motor, not the resistor? If the motor is old it can burn out the resistor and if the replacement motor is also old or worn out it will kill a new resistor sooner than a new motor will.

I went through this drama last summer, the resistor died 20 miles into a 3000 mile road trip. I did the trip with windows down instead of heat/AC and fixed it all when I got home. I was amazed how well it worked after the repair, and while I was in there I fixed the plastic flap that allows air through the floor vents.
