Brake question. V70-XC70

Besides brake fluid and old flex brake lines, what kind of pads are you using? When I got my 1995, it needed somewhere around 50lbs on the brake pedal to initiate a slow down. At first I blamed the rusty rotors, now I know it was the front pads (ceramic) that got dirty.

Cleaning the pads/rotors helped a lot and I assume that getting new pads will help even more. Bleeding the brake fluid helped. Putting silicone paste on the metal to metal pad-caliper parts didn't hurt either.
