OBDII and fault ecu??? 850 1995

I,m kinda full of questions tonite, but I have a 95 turbo, i have the ecu fault diagnostic box in the engine compartment, and the OBDII plug in in the console, is the OBDII a more "detailed" diagnosis than just the box in the engine compartment, and do a lot of 850's have both?Does this mean that only the OBDII can be used and i cant do fault diagnosis with out the scan tool?Haynes manual has me to believe it can only be one or the other. One last dumb question, how can i find out which type injection do i have?Im used to 240 and 700 series, that are a lot simpler than the 850's,Jamie
