Paul,

The internal portion of your latch is broken. In order to get in, to replace it you have to get the glove box open. Wrap a 12" pry bar with a rag and pry the door open as far as you can without destroying it. Look at the wire latch center top, that needs to be cut, I use an air saw with a hack saw blade, being very careful not to ding the covering on the door. Once the wire latch is cut the door will open and you can take the back of the door apart to replace the latch assembly. (it's a kit you buy) Make sure you buy the wire latch you cut as well.
