Re: Repairs to Date S80 99

Just came from Ventura Volvo which is an 80 mile drive,

clear into the next county. Worth the drive because of one

very good mechanic that works there. He corrected several

problems that had been caused by the careless attitude of

two other dealers that are much closer to where I live.

The power steering noise is indeed caused by the

fluid being too low,not because of an inadaquate

resevoir, but because of the older style cap and

dipstick that allows the returning fluid to be sprayed

upward, and out in a very fine mist, escaping from the

underside of this older style cap, thus allowing the

fluid level to become low, without any evidence of oil

spots on the garage floor.

There is a later version, part number 9485561 Cover

which was installed that should clear up this problem.

Topping off the P/S fluid did do away with the noise!
