Steve:
The manual does state to drain transmission fluid from the casing as well as the torque converter. It also explains how to do it. Basically, after you drain the oil from the transmission casing at the drain plug, you tighten back up the plug and refill the transmission with 2 liters of oil through the dip stick. Make sure you have a transmission oil funnel because it is hard to get to. Take off the negative then positive battery clamps and remove the battery. Unscrew and remove the battery holder. You will then see a hose approximately 1/2 in diameter coming from the bottom of the radiator which then connects via nut and thread to the transmission.
It is a tight fit, but you need to squeeze a wrench in there and disconnect the hose. The manual suggests you connect clear tubing to the radiator side of the hose and plug up the transmission side. Then lead the tubing to a collecting container. Temporarily return the battery and holder back into place. Hook up the battery and start the car. About 2 litters will come out and when it starts to foam you turn off the car. Repeat this process again. Then return all parts to original setting and top off the oil. The total amount of oil I used was 7 quarts which I thought should of
been a lot more since the manual states that it should be around 10 liters.
But I will drain the oil with the next oil change to check the color. Otherwise the transmission is shifting much better than before. Hope this was not more info than you wanted. Good luck.
