Re: Check Engine Light S70 99

The light will go off w/o reset on OBD-II level systems and on some of the earlier ones also.

The problem must not recur and the car has to be driven through three "trips".

These trips are a driving cycle where the engine can perform all of its diagnostics. This is usually a 20 mile drive that includes some idling periods of at least 30 seconds w/o opening throttle.

Once three of these are made w/o the problem happening the light will be off on next key on start cycle.

The countdown of code delete starts and the countdown is based on warm-up cycles completed, usually 40 or 80 of these depending on the DTC.

This scenario is for fuel system codes, the other systems on car are different as they are not bound to adhere to EPA defined protocols.
