Hi again Eric,
My wife got her car back this afternoon, with $356.97 less in her pocket (sih). According to the dealer's checklist, this is what has been done:
Change oil & filter, inspect exhaust, check all throttle controls, change antifreeze and perform pressure test, service battery, inspect all belts, replace air filter, replace spark plugs, clean PCV system, inspect all fluid levels, lube and adjust suspension.
Cost rundown:
4 hours labor @ $65.00 = 240.00
Filter insert @ $22.45 = 22.45
Oil filter @ $ 9.27 = 9.27
Gasket @ $ 2.59 = 2.59
WY-Service kit @ $16.95 = 16.95
WY-Washer solvent @ $ 2.50 = 2.50
Anti-freeze @ $15.88 = 15.88
Brake fluid @ $ 9.91 = 9.91
Spark plug kit @ $10.54 = 10.54
6 qt. Oil @ $ 1.55 = 9.30
Gasket @ $ 4.01 = 4.01
Environmental charge 8.00
Sales tax (5%) 5.57
Total 356.97
Notice: They begun to work on my car at 8am, and the car was finished at 11.30am. According to my calculatios this is only 3.5 hours instead of four as charged. All explanations including words like checked, cleaned, inspected, performed and adjusted are very hard to verify for the customer. What worries me is the replaced brake fluid, because it does not simlpy disappear. No one thought that an explanation was necessary, but I will call to find out tomorrow. Other than that I guess this is a normal price for a 30k inspection.
More later
