Just a short note about DOT 5 fluid. It is not compatible with ABS systems because it has a tendency to foam when pushed through very small openings, such as are found in the ABS components. The foaming fluid will not compress, just like air in the system, and cause the brake pedal to go all the way to the floor with no response when trying to stop. As someone else said, stay away from DOT 5 brake fluid for normal street driven cars.
