Outer CV Joint Boot S60 2004

CV joints are TOUGH. When a boot tears, the grease will work its way through the hole and coat everything in sight with black grease. The 'clicking' will not happen until the CV is bone dry and the metal to metal friction begins to wear on the joints - usually around 10K miles after the grease starts to leave.

You can drive for a long time yet.

The dealer (?) couldn't get the driver's side off???? There is a circlip on the end of the axle holding it into the tranny case. It takes a little force to get off and any good Volvo tech should know that. Heck, even us shade tree guys know that. With air tools, replacing the axle is a 1 hour job.
