Where are crank pulley timing marks? S60 2007

THANKS ALL for your patience and help, this thread is going on FOREVER ... My S70 timing belt was a piece of cake, so I figured how bad could the S60 be? Same basic engine, right? WOW, what an experience, complete with vvt's this time!

I have spark, and (I believe) fuel ( to check fuel, I turned ignition to Drive (II) position for 5 seconds, then pressed Schrader valve on fuel rail. Fuel sprayed for just an instant, and then stopped spraying even though I held the valve open; is this normal?)

I had not mentioned that, when putting the new belt on and lining up crank pulley marks, I noticed this crank position was slightly PAST tdc of #1 cylinder (camshafts locked with special tool, vvt hubs turned to cw limit). I had read that the crank should be at a position slightly BEFORE tdc with the camshafts locked; but I went with the marks, because the factory knows what it's doing, right? Question: Placing crank at tdc of #1, and making reference marks from crank pulley to engine, how many teeth ccw should I place crank from this position? (or what dimension down from tdc?) Thinking this may be my problem, I may be two teeth off.

Summarizing:
1) fuel check done correctly?
2) how many teeth from TDC? Or dimension?
