Vibration problem, defintively y totally solved!!!!!!! V70-XC70 98

Hi brickers,

After nagging during months about the vibrations I had in my car and rejoining forces all together to get Volvo going and looking for a solution, I am very happy to inform that my XC is cured from vibrations.

Not only do I not longer have vibrations in the steering wheel and drivetrain, also the "roughness/harshness" which is characteristic for the XC series is completely gone.

What is done is:

* on wheel balance, that is balancing the 4 wheels on the car, as the XC is an AWD drive car with autolocking rear dif, this is a bit tricky as all 4 wheels must be lifted at a time.

But man what a differences, it's now a very smooth car.

* re-alignment of front end.

* my dealer mounted this "protoype suspension kit" it's a kind of rubber "mushrooom" which comes on top of the front suspension.

This filters a lot of "roadfeel".

I think that the vibration would have gone completely without even mounting the suspension kit. I'm not sure yet if I like the actual feel more. It's a bit softer but you also loose some "road info" and the front suspension seems a bit looser. It feels a bit more confortable but I think I personally prefered the original harder setup. I must make some more kilometers on my favorite roads to see how it performs.

The cornering is still acurate and effective and I drove at some 210 km/h this afternoon in some very long curves with some nice dips which make most cars make some nice sidesteps. I found the new suspension a bit more affected and not feeling as solid but without any problems. Just had to correct a bit more. On the other hand it's smoother.

Let you all know about further experiences on that point. Maybe I will go back to the original kit anyway.

What certainly had it's effect on Volvo and the dealer (nothing than good words for the dealer) is the fact that they know that we are interconnecting all through internet and this BRICKBOARD.

The engineer asked me if I was going to publish my experiences on the board, so they know we are discussing. This is important and shows this is the right way to do! Remember the guy who not longer wanted to be part of this group? Well to bad for him, this board works!

I will try to get hold of the partnumbers of the mounted "mushroom" although I personally think that the "on car balance" makes the difference.

regards

René
