Re: Antti! 215/45/17 vs. 205/45/17 Tires on a 850R?

Hi Antti.

With 215/40ZR17 you should not have any clearance problem but your tire

aren't accepted due to the load index of the tire!

850 and S/V70 must have tires with load index 87 or higher and if you

have an R AWD you need load index 91.

Load index tells you how much weight you can have on each wheel.

215/40-17 should have between 83 and 85 load index, I think.

Look at your tire to find out what you have.

Your tires aren't that good if you drive fast or have heavy loads in the

car and they can be dangerous!

The Pirelli PZero is specially made for Volvo R-lines and markt 88 and

for the R AWD Pirelli P6000 215/45ZR17 it's 91W.

The standard 850T, x70 T5 has 87W.

Talk to your dealer of tires or contact any wheel brand for more

information about load index.

Volvo wanted to mount 215/45-17 in order to get better comfort and better milage and also because it's a standard size, but it didn't fullfill the Volvo demands on a tire.
