Funny Volvo should say that. The wreckers indicate there is a good market for transmissions from wrecked Volvos.

The hose to disconnect runs from the top of the radiator to the transmission. Yes you do need to take out the battry and battery tray as you need to disconect it at the transmission end. The clear plastic hose needs to be about 20mm in diameter. I plugged the open end on the transmission by putting a strong peice of plastic over it an securing that with a twist tie (elastic band or cable tie would probably do). You can do the job with one person.
