headlight switch bulbs 850 1993

The parking lights and headlights and tailights are all turning on as they are supposed to, but the indicator for the parking lights does not come on. I just found a replacement on ebay, i will feel better with an "unopened" switch.

I bought LEDs on eBay, 3mm diameter, white light, and have a flat top, so the light is more diffuse. It was one of those deals that included LEDs and the "resistors needed", which turned out to be two types, one had 390 ohms, and the light was way too bright, the other one was 2,300 ohm, and actually worked real well. I used a writeup in Matthew's Volvo website as a guide, i actually tried the red LEDs but the light was too dim.

In the 1994 850 the light bulbs are actually soldered inside the switch, so i had to take apart the switch for the rear window defogger, the sunroof, the fog lights, and they all use the grain of wheat type bulbs with two long leads. But the headlight switch uses the other type of bulb, a little bigger, that gets installed by stabbing it into the holder.

So don't bother opening the headlight switch, there are no lights inside! there is also no light in the dimmer switch that sits on top of the fog light switch. let me see if i can figure how to upload some pictures of the LED installation if that can be of help
