The newer the better. If you can afford it, buy the last years of that body style: 2006 or 2007. My sister's family has a 2006 V70 XC with well over 100k and it has been very reliable. They intend on running it into the ground... First my niece now nephew is driving it.

Nothing wrong with the 2004 or 05's either.
