No lights on the dashboard it's a great feeling -- still have AC issues though S70

Bought a 2000 S70 GLT SE over the winder and been trying to get rid of a pesky Check Engine Light. What a nice car ... but got code P0422, so replaced oxygen sensor and put in new plugs while I was at it. Cleared codes and no dashboard lights after crank! I really feel like I've accomplished something. Now to replace the console bulb which is out and get this AC properly diagnosed. Tried adding a pound of Freon when I purchased it, and clutch came on just for a second, but haven't been able to get it to click on since. Hope this is not gonna ruin my summer. Fuses are all good (from what I can tell). Any ideas on where to start diagnosing AC problem? Blower works fine, blower motor works and no flashing lights on ECM when turning on AC, just no refrigerated air.
