Opening driver door - Pop sound

Dont go to the body shop just yet! My driver's side door did this, and it did indeed mean that the door check strap had broken away from the door frame - requiring a trip to a good body shop. When my passenger side door starting making the noise, I thought "here we go again." Turned out that all that was needed on the passenger side was to tighten the mounting bolts.

So...check that the mounting bolts for the door check strap are tight before you run to the body shop.
